About Cosmas Cabinet Hardware Mounting Screws

Cosmas cabinet screws are UNC 8-32 machine screws designed for mounting cabinet knobs and drawer pulls. Choose a different screw length when the standard one-inch screws included with Cosmas cabinet hardware are too short or too long for the cabinet door or drawer front.

These truss-head mounting screws are compatible with Cosmas cabinet hardware. They are available in several lengths to accommodate thin cabinet doors, standard drawer fronts, thicker drawer assemblies, and other installation requirements.

Available 8-32 screw lengths

  • 3/4-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-1/8-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-1/4-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-1/2-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-5/8-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 1-3/4-inch cabinet mounting screws
  • 2-inch cabinet mounting screws

Package quantities vary by length. Review the individual product title and specifications to confirm both the screw length and the number of screws included.

What does UNC 8-32 mean?

The number 8 identifies the screw diameter, while 32 identifies the number of threads per inch. UNC refers to the Unified National Coarse thread standard. An 8-32 screw should only be used with hardware manufactured to accept the same thread size.

The “8-32” designation does not mean that the screw is 8/32 of an inch long. Screw length is listed separately, such as 1 inch, 1-1/4 inches, or 2 inches.

Choosing the correct cabinet-screw length

Measure the thickness of the cabinet door or complete drawer-front assembly. The screw must pass through the cabinet material and extend far enough to engage the threaded opening in the knob or pull securely.

A screw that is too short may not engage enough threads to hold the hardware. A screw that is too long may bottom out inside the knob or pull before the hardware tightens against the cabinet surface.

Screws for knobs and drawer pulls

The same 8-32 thread size can be used with compatible cabinet knobs, cup pulls, bar pulls, and other handles. However, the correct length depends on the thickness of the door or drawer front rather than the style of hardware.

Cabinet Hardware Mounting Screws FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What screw size comes with Cosmas cabinet hardware?

Cosmas cabinet knobs and pulls include one-inch 8-32 mounting screws. Different lengths are available in this collection for applications where the included screws do not fit the cabinet door or drawer front correctly.

When would I need longer cabinet screws?

Longer screws may be needed when a drawer has both a drawer box and a separate decorative front, or when the cabinet material is thicker than normal. Measure the complete material thickness before selecting a length.

When would I need shorter cabinet screws?

A shorter screw may be required for a thin cabinet door, metal drawer, furniture panel, or another application where a standard one-inch screw bottoms out before the knob or pull becomes tight.

How is the length of a cabinet screw measured?

Truss-head machine-screw length is measured from the underside of the screw head to the tip. Do not include the height of the rounded head when comparing the listed length.

Will these screws fit cabinet hardware from another brand?

They may fit hardware from another manufacturer if that hardware uses the same UNC 8-32 thread. Confirm the required thread size before ordering and never force a screw that does not turn smoothly by hand.

Are 8-32 and M4 cabinet screws the same?

No. An 8-32 screw uses an inch-based thread standard, while an M4 screw uses a metric thread. They are not interchangeable and forcing the wrong screw can damage the threaded opening in the knob or pull.

Can these screws be used with both knobs and pulls?

Yes. They can be used with Cosmas knobs and pulls that accept 8-32 mounting screws. Two screws are normally required for a pull, while a cabinet knob generally requires one.

Can I shorten an 8-32 cabinet screw?

A machine screw can sometimes be cut with appropriate tools, but cutting may damage the starting threads or leave a sharp edge. Selecting the closest ready-made length generally provides a cleaner and easier installation.

Are these screws used to assemble or install cabinets?

No. These are machine screws for attaching cabinet knobs and pulls. They are not wood screws or structural fasteners for assembling cabinet boxes, mounting cabinets to walls, or installing cabinet hinges.

How many screws come in each package?

Current package quantities include bags of 25, 30, or 40 screws, depending on the selected length. Confirm the quantity shown in the individual product title before ordering.
